Augustine on humility
“There you are, that’s the achievement of the one who was crucified and scorned on the cross, there you have what he mowed down the nations with, not with ferocious steel, but with a scorned piece of wood. So then, let the proud drink the potion of humility, seeing that Christ has let himself be humiliated. Let them condescend to be humble, let them now recognize their medicine, let them come and believe.”
—Augustine, Sermon 360B
